Educational Goal Essay or Video:  (not to exceed 250 words)

It is time to take the digital tools students are using outside of school and model those tools to reach mastery of the Maryland College and Career Readiness Standards. It is no longer acceptable not to leverage the power of technology to offer authentic learning tasks to students.

I want to develop a skills set that allows me to move into an educational technology professional development coach or technology coordinator position within Worcester County Public Schools’ (WCPS) where I get to work with classroom teachers on integrating technology into their instructional plans. Coaching teachers to take risks, I want to work with redeveloping the districts UbD units with authentic learning tasks which highlights technology as a tool to deeper understanding of the standards. Our students must walk away from WCPS prepared to take on the challenges of the world and feel they received a world class education; our kids deserve it.

My classroom continually is evolving into a blended classroom environment. However, technology is constantly changing and I need to stay abreast of it to better prepare my students to become 21st Century learners. Deepening my professional learning community, I believe working on a graduate certificate in instructional technology allows me to enhance my repertoire of skills to meet my professional goals.
